Oregon Warns Businesses To Check The Validity Of Their Insurance

The Oregon Insurance Division is warning local companies about a scam after a trucking firm handed over $20,000 to a fake insurance company.

The state said a large Oregon transportation company thought it had purchased insurance online from Proactive Indemnity Corporation.

It paid the premiums for four years and during that time received invoices and certificates of coverage.

But the documents were fake and the premiums paid were deposited into banks in Pakistan.

Stephanie Ficek with the Oregon Insurance Division is concerned more companies are being scammed.

“It probably wasn’t an isolated case," she said. "The nature of these scams is they target maybe under performing insurance agents and they suck them in. So we just want to get the word out."

The agency is asking anyone who has done business with Josh Capello, Ahmed Salam, Proactive Indemnity, Proactive Financial or ContingentCargo to contact them immediately.
