Crews in Washington have opened two northbound lanes of Interstate 5 in Woodland after a landslide closed them Wednesday. The Washington State Department of Transportation hopes to have all lanes open by Sunday night.
Landslides and flooding have closed several roads and stretches of highway around western Oregon and southwest Washington this week.
Gov. Jay Inslee declared a state of emergency today in the face of floods across the region. The proclamation covers a series of storms that started on Nov. 30 and is continuing. The storms produced high winds and heavy rainfall that saturated soils, caused major flooding, landslides, stream bank and slope erosion, fallen tree limbs, broken and uprooted trees, and flying debris.
