Join us for a screening of OPB’s new “Oregon Experience” documentary “The Living Legacy of Colegio César Chávez.”

The event will include a panel discussion led by documentary producer Alicia Avila, Colegio César Chávez co-founders Sonny Montes and José Romero, and Colegio César Chávez: The Legacy Lives On / El legado sigue vivo exhibition curator Natalia Fernández, which will be on view at the Oregon Historical Society in 2025. They will share a behind-the-scenes discussion about the film, the significance of Colegio’s legacy today, and open the conversation to the audience for questions.

Join us for an upcoming screening of two films from OPB’s “Oregon Experience” history series: “Oregon’s Black Pioneers” and “The Road to Sunrise.”

This screening for Black History Month tells the stories of Black Oregonians’ past and present, and culminates in the hope of a future that is possible in our state.

Following the screening, we will have an audience Q&A and panel discussion with those featured in the documentaries, and we are eager to have you join us.

“Dear Aloha” at The Redd on Salmon | A love letter to Hawaii

In February, you can attend a free screening of the new documentary short film, “Dear Aloha,by Native Hawaiian Cris Romento – who was raised here in the Pacific Northwest.

The film follows two Native Hawaiians living in the Pacific Northwest as they reflect on how Aloha sustains them amidst distance, loss, and longing. Meanwhile, back in Hawaii, locals grapple with the history of colonization that has Hawaiians disappearing from their homeland.

The event features Hawaiian catering, a special performance by Halau Ka Lei Haliʻa O Ka Lokelani, representation from a variety of Pacific Islander and Hawaiian organizations, and a panel conversation with the fillmmaker.
